James Marcia
Marcia extended the work of Erikson. However, his theory didn't include stages. Instead, he extended the Identity vs. Role Confusion stage of Erkison's theory. Marcia theorized that the concept of identity is made up of four identity stages.

MAMA Cycles are cycles that go through Moratorium-Achievement-Moratorium-Achievement. This is when an individual commits to an identity and faces a crisis about the commitment and searches for a new identity. Keep in mind that just because someone has made a decision about their identity, it does not mean it cannot change.
